Ðãɫֱ²¥

Lisa Emery, Ph.D.

Senior Associate Registrar at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

2025 Ðãɫֱ²¥ Elections Candidate - 2026-2027 N&E Committee Member

Position Statement:

I joined Ðãɫֱ²¥ in 2014 and steadily increased my level of participation over the past decade.  I attended six Annual Meetings (presented at five), two Tech & Transfer conferences (presented at both), and two Ðãɫֱ²¥ SEM meetings (presented at one).  I completed SEM-EP in 2021 and served as a member of the Information Systems and Technology Committee for three years.  I am currently a Program Activities Committee chair for the Institutional Data Committee.  I’ve published two articles in SEM Quarterly, attended Hill Day, and participated in two Ðãɫֱ²¥ Leadership Meetings.  Becoming a member of the N&E Committee would be the next step in my Ðãɫֱ²¥ engagement pathway.  I will be completing my role as Past-President of my state organization (MACRAO) at the end of this year and am looking for a new opportunity to channel my time and energy.

If elected, my primary goal is to identify the best talent from among the nominees who can advance the strategic goals of Ðãɫֱ²¥.  The current strategic plan goes through 2026, so the nominees chosen for leadership positions will play a critical role in shaping the plan that will carry us into the next decade.  I will carefully review and evaluate the candidates on their demonstrated ability to be visionary and their willingness to commit to the values of collaboration, innovation, inclusivity, inquiry, and integrity.  I also recognize that it is important that the Ðãɫֱ²¥ board continues to represent the diversity of the membership when it comes to gender, race, institution type, and region. An Ðãɫֱ²¥ Leadership role presents a unique professional development opportunity with the potential to open doors for the chosen person so I would use my position as an N&E committee member to consider how the candidate can contribute to Ðãɫֱ²¥ and the broader higher ed community.
