2025 Ðãɫֱ²¥ Elections Candidate - 2026-2027 N&E Committee Member

It is an honor to be nominated for the Nominations and Elections (N&E) Committee. This marks my second time going through this process—I previously served as a first alternate several years ago, though I was not formally part of the voting committee.

In my first application, I wrote the following:

“The Nominations and Elections Committee plays a pivotal role in determining the future of the organization. I know that choosing a slate of candidates is not as simple as picking names out of a hat. A great deal of discussion, background research, reference checks, and thoughtful deliberation must occur before the committee can confidently put forward a balanced and qualified slate. Candidates must be selected based on their professional experience, dedication to the organization, and their ability to represent the membership. Considerations such as individual demographics, geographic region, institution type, and departmental representation are essential. To achieve the right mix of candidates, the committee itself must be just as diverse.”

I believe that statement is even more relevant today. The responsibility of selecting members of our Board of Directors has never been more critical. We are navigating a time of unprecedented change and uncertainty, and our members are looking to Ðãɫֱ²¥’s leadership to advocate, educate, and guide them through these challenges. Future board members must be innovative, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to representing our students, institutions, and professional community. Most importantly, they must act in the best interest of the association. A successful candidate must have meaningful experience within Ðãɫֱ²¥, the courage to make difficult decisions, and the ability to communicate those decisions transparently to the membership.

This perspective comes from over twenty years of active involvement in Ðãɫֱ²¥. In addition to being a regular conference attendee, I have served numerous leadership roles, including PAC Chair, Group 1 Coordinator, Vice Chair and Chair of the Program Committee, Co-Chair of the Technology and Transfer Conference, Content Manager, Chair of the Transfer Task Force and the Doctoral Student Network, and as an Ðãɫֱ²¥ Consultant. I’ve authored best practice guides and articles, and I served as President of CAPACRAO, the Chesapeake and Potomac Regional Association. Currently, I am Co-Chair of the 2026 Annual Meeting Local Programs Committee.

These experiences have shaped my understanding of what it means to lead within this association. The N&E Committee plays a vital role in shaping Ðãɫֱ²¥’s future, and I would be proud to contribute to a process that ensures our leadership reflects the values, expertise, and innovation that define our community.

I believe the same standards we expect of our board should apply to the N&E Committee itself. I hope my professional and personal experiences have prepared me to lead with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to equity. I view this nomination as another opportunity to give back to a community that has profoundly shaped my career and identity. I am excited about the possibility of serving and contributing to Ðãɫֱ²¥ in this meaningful way.

Thank you for considering my candidacy.
