Bill Haid retired from his position in 2016 as University Registrar at the University of California - San Diego after a rewarding 38 year career in higher education. Bill served as Ðãɫֱ²¥ President in 2000, as well as on a myriad of Ðãɫֱ²¥ committees and task forces, having chaired both the Program Committee and the Task Force for Diversity. In addition to his leadership roles, Bill contributed multiple chapters to Ðãɫֱ²¥ publications. He served as President for both Rocky Mountain ACRAO and New Mexico ACRAO. Bill was honored with Ðãɫֱ²¥'s Distinguished Service Award in 2004 and Honorary Membership in 2016. He was regarded as a leader and innovator not only by his colleagues at UC San Diego, but amongst his peers in the field of higher education. Bill was passionate about our profession. His dedication and determined efforts to advance higher education showed significant support for Ðãɫֱ²¥, students, and for the profession as a whole. We thank him for his service.
Bill served as Ðãɫֱ²¥ President at a crucial time in the association's history. His contribution to transforming Ðãɫֱ²¥ from a financially struggling organization into the thriving association it is today cannot be overstated. Bill was instrumental in hiring Ðãɫֱ²¥ Executive Director Jerry Sullivan in 1998. "Bill and I first met when we worked together at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where Bill served as Registrar and I worked in Student Services," said Jerry. "My job as Executive Director was made easy with Bill Haid by my side. Bill's leadership was evident as we worked together to reinvigorate the association. He was a dear friend and colleague - my heartfelt condolences to his wife and family."
Devoted Husband, Father of three, Honored Navy Veteran, and retired university enrollment executive, , born on July 13, 1948, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on May 2, 2023.
