In late February 2015, (IES) received a request for evaluation of academic documents for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria.
ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ IES requested the applicant to have official transcripts sent directly from the university to ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥. The applicant pointed out that the city of Maiduguri was experiencing constant upheaval, turmoil and threats by Boko Haram. Because of this, the university had closed temporarily. ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ confirmed this via news reports from multiple sources.
Due to this, ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ issued the evaluation report with this disclaimer:
"Please note that this evaluation was prepared using a photocopy of the applicant’s diploma and transcript. Due to political unrest in Nigeria, the University of Maiduguri was temporarily closed. Although it very recently re-opened, it is unclear whether original transcripts are currently available."
Update: On April 2, 2015, ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ received an official transcript delivered directly from the University of Maiduguri. The cover letter was signed by the Deputy Registrar (Exams and Records).
