Cassandra Moore is the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Development at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. She has worked at every level of college admissions, but her passion for first-generation college students led her to community colleges. She has been an active member of Ðãɫֱ²¥ and currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors.
Her work in the community college space is aligned with her interest in creating opportunities and leadership development. As an admission professional, she is vigilant about gaps in enrollment. Her laser focus on, “Who is enrolling and who is not,” has led to her broad view for creating opportunities, that go beyond what is traditionally considered. At this moment, she is very concerned with young men not enrolling in college. She is a strong advocate for establishing safe spaces for all perspectives. She has faith that disparate perspectives can co-exist and conduct the work that keeps the learner at the center. Colleges, universities, and higher education non-profit associations make better decisions when they expect, request and include all voices and perspectives in their decision-making processes. She reminds us to, “Pay attention to the quiet ones!”
Her commitment to opportunity is demonstrated by her commitment to her college and community. She is a member of Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT), a women’s giving circle that awards grants up to $25,000 to non-profits who improve the lives of women, children, and families. She serves as commissioner for the Learning Evaluation and Recognition for the Next Generation (LEARN) Commission, a new national effort to recognize undergraduate learning and improve credit evaluation policies and practices. She has served on the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families Disconnected Youth Workgroup, focused on 16-24 years old residents, who are not connected to school, family or work.
